DAHUA story

What is DAHUA Chinese?

DAHUA Chinese aims to build the interaction between different cultures with Chinese people. Our motto is, mutual understanding makes the world a better place”.

Why was DAHUA Chinese founded?

A different culture and language is a lifestyle choice for second language learners. Some are interested in the beautiful culture, some desperate for business opportunities with Chinese people, some are trying to order a Kung Pao Chicken by using Mandarin Chinese. Learners have very diverse kinds of goals when they choose to learn the language. But how to keep them stay motivated when they are frustrated on learning the second hardest language in the world?

As a Chinese second language teacher, we love to share and introduce the beauty of our culture and history. We also observed learners are more attracted by TV episodes, history and culture stories. Those who are persistent to learn the language to a better level must have a strong motivation that continuously pushes them to learn. And this is what we care about the most.

However, when we are preparing the classes, we can’t find the resources that are suitable for foreign learners that don't have Chinese culture background to reach. That's the reason why we try our best to create a tool for teachers sharing stories to their students.

We wish to let people who have the desire to know more about the world understand how these 1.4 billion Chinese people think, the knowledge they take for granted, and know those interesting insiders’ jokes. And last but the most importantly, we hope the understanding between each other can get rid of misunderstanding and hatred, and make the world better and peaceful.

Let's join us and open the door of a whole new world to explore!

What We Do?

DAHUA Library

In the Library, there are 4 main themes,
Living with Culture, Chinese History, Business and Celebrities, and Chinese Learning
for our users to learn the culture and language.

Living with culture

Why does my Chinese mother in law scream when my pregnant wife sews the button? Why does my dad put a screen that blocks the window view beside the door and say it can preserve the money in my house? Why do most Chinese people hate the Disney movie Mulan and sarcastic the scenarios?

All the misunderstanding and surprises comes with a big “WHY”. Actually, all the myths, taboos and habits come from ancient Chinese peoples’ life experience. These experiences become traditions, and they are exactly how they lived their life and it is now affecting us.

Chinese people think oranges are cold but mango is hot, so women are not recommended to eat oranges during their period? In a traditional yard, it is not only pretty, but also full of symbols that stress you to be more diligent? There are some traditions in Chinese families that make it easier for them to become elites?

In Live with Culture, you will see how we introduce you from ancient times to nowadays all the topics over the food, clothing, living space, transportation, education, entertainment and beliefs. Just like a scroll unfolds how Chinese people live their life in front of you.

Chinese history

The first emperor of Tang, 唐太宗 had said,”以銅為鑑,可正衣冠;以古為鑑,可知興替;以人為鑑,可明得失。”(By setting bronze as a mirror, one can adjust dressing. By setting history as a mirror, one knows the ups and downs of a dynasty. By setting people as a mirror, one can understand what he gains and loses.)

This is what he said when he honored the memory of his favorite prime minister, 魏徵, and also let us know how history being an important part for one to know a culture.
